Prospective Benefits of
Proactive Cybersecurity with iPU
for Emerging Innovations
Series 1: Artificial Intelligence (AI) + iPU & CALPU
Proactive cyber protection can immunize emerging innovations, including evolving Artificial Intelligence (AI), while inherently providing high-performance and low-power computing capabilities. AI is increasingly integral to complex decision-making processes that require rapid data absorption and interpretation, often in real-time. For instance, Google's Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) are custom-designed AI accelerators optimized for training and inference of large AI models.
However, the energy consumption associated with AI is significant. Data centers, AI, and cryptocurrencies accounted for almost 2% of global electricity consumption in 2022, representing 460 TWh.
The efficiency of AI-related computer chips has doubled roughly every two-and-a-half to three years, and a modern AI-related computer chip uses 99% less power to perform the same calculations as a model from 2008.
Integrating proactive protection into AI systems can prevent unauthorized access and the use of malicious data, thereby enhancing both performance and energy efficiency. This approach ensures that AI systems operate according to the intentions of authorized users within secure, high-performance, and energy-efficient computing environments.
